BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Ronaldinho will miss the first game of FC Barcelona’s Spanish league title defense due to a bruised left thigh, the club said Sunday.

Ronaldinho suffered the injury during Barcelona’s 3-0 defeat against Sevilla in the European Super Cup on Friday and wasn’t included in the 18-man squad for the match at Celta Vigo on Monday.

The absence of the FIFA world player of the year could mean a league debut for Iceland’s Eidur Gudjohnsen, who joined Barcelona from Chelsea during the offseason.

Barcelona will also be without midfielder Mark van Bommel, who is set to move to Bayern Munich. Coach Frank Rijkaard has decided to omit defenders Juliano Belletti and Sylvinho, together with forward Javier Saviola.
